Members of the PFC conducted a basic survival session using a wall breach prop. The prop was built by Lt. Kontz and simulates some basic obstacles and width sizes between studs. The members had to simulate a scenario where they had to escape into another room through the wall while wearing SCBA.

Today we mark the anniversary of the loss of one of our own local police officers. On January 29, 2009, Officer Chris Jones was struck and killed by a vehicle while on a traffic stop on Route 1. Officer Jones was posthumously promoted to Detective.

The Parkland Fire Company recently purchased the first wave of new SCBA paks and bottles from MES. The new air paks comply with recent changes of standards and replaces our paks that were purchased in 2004.

Local girls from the Daisy Scouts visited the firehouse to earn their Fire Safety Badge recently. The group got a close up tour of Rescue 9 and the Jaws Of Life. Chief Barnes also demonstrated how a fireman gets dressed and wears an air pak.

Members from PFC participated in a HazMat Refresher practical exercise at the LBPSTC. Crews were given a scenario of a leaking drum and tasked with identifying the product that was leaking and protecting a city inlet.

On Saturday April 8, crews from our station joined the Parkland Presbyterian Church at Firefighters Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny as well as the Uptown String Band made an appearance as kids got to get their face painted and of course participate in the egg hunt.

On Tuesday March 21st, members of the PFC worked with Paramedic Dave Harris with reviewing equipment and apparatus at the Penndel Middletown Emergency Squad. The crew got some hands on training with the Bariatric equipment, electric stretcher, Special Service 168 (Rehab unit) and other items.
