It's that time of year again! When you change your clocks, change your batteries in all of your smoke detectors. If you have a sealed 10-year smoke detector, simply test it and make sure it is in working order.

The 2023 Parkland Fire Company Banquet was held at the Bella Tori at the Mansion in Langhorne. Past President Jim McFadden was honored for his 60 years of service by the company as well as State Senator Frank Farry and State Representative Joe Hogan.

The members of PFC had some special guests stop by on a Tuesday training night. Gregg Whitmore from IDEX corporation, the parent company of Hurst Rescue Tools, John Sileski and Frank Watson of MES treated the members to dinner.

Today we mark the anniversary of the loss of one of our own local police officers. On January 29, 2009, Officer Chris Jones was struck and killed by a vehicle while on a traffic stop on Route 1. Officer Jones was posthumously promoted to Detective.

Fire Prevention Week is October 9-15 this year. This years theme is making an escape plan. It is important for everyone to plan and practice a home fire escape. Everyone needs to be prepared in advance, so that they know what to do when the smoke alarm sounds.
